The Riverside South project is an 8.3 million square foot development located on a 76 acre site on Manhattan’s West Side between 72nd and 59th Streets. The development includes 15 residential buildings with 5,700 dwelling units and 2 million square feet of commercial space along with a major extension of the street and utility system and a new 25 acre waterfront park.
PHA was the transportation planner from the inception of the project, and worked closely with a coalition of civic organizations on the West Side to shape the plan for public approvals. PHA prepared the transportation analyses for the EIS and mapped all new streets and parkland as part of the public approval process. As the multi-phased project advanced, the firm was responsible for the design of the new street system including coordination of the infrastructure elements: utilities, streetscape, and bridges over Amtrak, and obtaining all agency approvals for the phased project. PHA also provided construction supervision services for the new street system. For the on-going phased design and construction of the waterfront park, PHA is responsible for civil engineering, design and grading for the on-going phased design of the waterfront park (most recently phases V and VI).
