Bronx, NY
CLIENT:
SOM / NYCDDC
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Public Safety Answering Center (PSAC) II project consists of a second 911 call and dispatch center for the City, at 1200 Waters Place in the north central Bronx. The development will consist of an approximately 493,500 gross square foot office building on an 8.9-acre site. This new emergency communications facility will work in tandem with the existing PSAC I facility at 11 MetroTech Center in Downtown Brooklyn. The public facility will also support command control centers for the New York City Police Department and the Fire Department of the City of New York, which will allow police and fire officials to coordinate and manage emergency response within the New York City Office of Emergency Management.
PHA is providing resident engineering inspection services to the New York City Department of Design & Construction as a subconsultant to Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The firm’s responsibilities include inspection of the new force main installation; water main installation and tie-in to existing service at Pelham Parkway; storm sewer installation; internal roadway system and parking lots; and installation of site lighting and telecommunications lines. In addition, PHA is providing continuous inspection of soil erosion control measures in accordance with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) requirements.
