PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Related Companies’ plan for the Hudson Yards development includes approximately 13 million square feet of new office, residential, and retail space, as well as public open space, to be constructed partially on a platform over the MTA’s West Side Yard in Manhattan. The 26-acre site is bound by West 30th Street, West 33rd Street, Tenth and Twelfth Avenues.
PHA is providing transportation and infrastructure planning services related to the overall site master plan. This consists of parking and loading planning, schematic design of on-site roadways, and preparation of a stormwater management plan for the entire site.
PHA is also currently providing civil and traffic engineering services for the first phase of development, which will be located at the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 30th Street. This phase will consist of two towers and a retail podium, comprising more than five million square feet. The firm’s responsibilities include parking and loading planning, and preparation of the grading plan, builders pavement plan, bollard plan, plaza design, and the site connection proposal.
PHA prepared an Environmental Assessment Statement (EAS) in 2008 for several zoning text amendments within the Special Hudson Yards District, and a second EAS in 2011 for several additional zoning text amendments related to the development of the eastern portion of the site.
